The princess walked in and flopped onto the soft, sturdy Northerner bed. She could not believe that she stayed up all night. Her eyes were heavy as she struggled to get out of her cloak and at least have a few moments to herself.
Her thought then turned to the Ironborn Pyke. How she felt no fear from him at the Weirwood. The process that he went through to worship his God, the Drowned God still stuck with her. "HE had to submerge his head in order to commune with his God unlike she who had to go to the Sept and pray to the God that she wanted guidance from.
Wrestling with her dress and tossing it onto a chair, she then laid out her woolen riding pants and boots out to wear. She then asked the servant to bring her in very hot water to bathe in. Aelinor wanted to wash off the day before.
Once her bath was complete, she laid on the bed with a book, reading and enjoying the silence.

Vickon hoisted himself up over the windowsill with one final effort, crumpling over the other side. He paused momentarily. The climb had been a difficult one; his entire body ached, he was still slightly intoxicated and the events of earlier that evening had left his left hand all but useless. He propped himself up against the wall beneath the window and caught his breath. Without moving his head, he peered around the room and saw numerous red and black banners hanging on the wall.
Sitting there in the bright moonlight, the cold northern air snapping at any bare-skin it could find, Vickon's mind began to wander. The previous three days had been wild. The Wolf and his wedding, Vickon's own father, the merman's warships and the Dragon-Girl... especially the Dragon-Girl. He shook his head and laughed.
Well Pyke this is a whole new level of insanity.

Aelinor closed her book, walked over to her window. She stared out at the sky, her thoughts were on Lord Stark's decision. Inside she was hoping he would decide to remain in Winterfell.
Taking a breath, bracing herself for the blast of northern air that will hit her once she opened the window. She opened it feeling the rush of air touch her face and hands, seeping into the warmth of her room.
Aelinor leaned out, then she noticed boots under her window. "Who are you, that appears to be brave enough to hide under the window of the Dragon Princess?"
She then smirked,"Or are you stupid?"

"Ahh, princess. So good of you to notice me. I was likely to fall asleep if you hadn't come along." Vickon rose unsteadily, making sure not to put too much pressure on his off-hand as he did so. "How do these things go in the south?" He attempted a bow but he was sure he did it all wrong.

She shook her head, it was the Pyke from the Weirwood. Aelinor saw him trying to be courteous and chuckled, shaking her head again. "You addressed me as Princess, that is courtesy enough. I do not need for you to hurt yourself doing anything outside of that."
She then paused and asked,"The main question is why are you here and not with your people?" Aelinor stared at him, her violet eyes studying him for any hint of untruth or distress. "It is not your way to leave each other behind, unless there was a reason to do so."
"And your father is Lord Greyjoy." Then she noticed his hand. "What happened to you?"

Vickon averted his gaze. "I... well, my father and I..." He shook his head. "It doesn't matter." He pushed past the princess into the room and seated himself by the fire. For a short while he just watched the flames dance before his eyes. Eventually, he began to unwrap his bandaged left hand, ensuring that he did not cause himself too much pain in the process. "Never try playing at a Finger-dance when drunk." He chuckled. Holding his left hand up to the fire, he revealed his smallest finger to be completely missing. "Else, you are bound to lose."

"Oh my Gods", looking at his damaged hand. Grabbing what she could, Aelinor began cleaning and wrapping his hand. "I am not a healer, I will do what I can, but you must see a Maester about this.." She wiped the wounds gently then looked at him. "You came to me...Why?"

"Because..." Vickon swallowed his words, "Because, who else? I cannot trust mine own kin. I'm surrounded by men who would rather see me dead than alive. And there is a fire to you princess. I fire that I find comforting." He turned away from the fire to look at her. "You are very beautiful, you know. Perhaps the most beautiful woman I have ever seen."

She nodded, listening to him as she wrapped the new bandages. "You can't trust your kin?" Aelinor looked at him,"What is your name? I know that you are a Greyjoy, maybe and since you already know who I am. I never asked your name..."
Looking at her handywork, her eyes stared at him,"And a fire, I am a dragon, I will always have that, but I choose to burn other things than people with my flame."
"If I provide you with comfort, then I thank you for saying that. I see you as human being, not just a Greyjoy. Something most people in this land sorely lack when it comes to your kind."
She smiled lightly,"Thank you for the compliment, but with you being a true Ironborn. I am sure you have seen many other women."

Vickon looked to his maimed hand, turning it round and stretching it out. It still hurt but the wound was clean now and unlikely to become infected. "Aye. But you are very different from any of the women I have known. Most Ironborn women are like salt, not good to the taste and will drain you of your life if you have too much. But you..." His eyes drifted back to meet those of the princess.
"And I am no Greyjoy. Not anymore. Although I never was in truth. From the day I was born my father despised me. He never educated me, like you dirt lords are. The only training he thought important enough to teach me was the one where he got to beat me with wooden sticks."
His gaze drifted back to the fire once again. Occasionally he would think he would see something, but then the flames would dance and change and he would forget what it was he had thought he saw.
"But I assume it is mine own name you wish to hear, not my family's. But I feel as if you presume too much of me princess, for I do not know your name. The Iron Isles are largely isolated from the mainland and it is not uncommon for us to not know the names of our royal overlords. The Ironborn men have been referring to you as 'the Dragonbitch' but I am guessing that is not your true name."

"Well there are women in the mainland that can do that as well." She smiled at him,"and they are not saltwives, they are just regular women of a different sort. They too can drain the life from others, if they want something bad enough." Then Aelinor laughed,"Your Ironmen have me confused with my twin sister, Velana, if they called me 'The Dragonbitch'."
She shook her head slowly with a small smile,"My name is Aelinor... I am affectionately called the "Bright Dragon' by my family because of my wealth and love of knowledge and how I always have my nose stuck in a book of some sorts."
She watched as he inspected the little bandage job that she did. "And if you were not a Greyjoy, then..." Thinking to herself, then she looked at him,"You are a bastard of the Greyjoy... That is why he treated you so badly.."
The princess noticed him looking at the flames, sit beside him in another chair,"I would like to know your name, yes....."she paused thinking of what she is about to say to him and then she spoke again,"If I am going to trust and be able to call you friend, I think referring to you as 'Pyke" would not be proper."

Vickon smiled to himself. It had been a long time anyone had been so kind to him, let alone call him friend. "Vickon. Vickon Pyke. And yes, Lord Greyjoy is my father and Lady Greyjoy was not my mother. Hence making me, a bastard.
He shifted uncomfortably. "But I care little of that life now. What of you? What is life like for Aelinor?"

The princess looked at him,"Vickon... That is a good name. Sounds strong." SHe then put her hands close to the flames, watching them move. The heat felt good to her hands,"My life as a royal...."
Aelinor smiled,".. Well for most of it, I have been rigorlessly educated by the Maester and a few others from the Citadel most of my life. That was my father's choice, of course ."
She then looked at him,"But at other times, it can be quite frustrating, I can not ride dragons like my brother or be the center of attention like my sister, but I am the smartest. As the Maester puts it 'a fine wife for any man of intelligence'. Which by our traditions is my twin brother, Aelix."
"You also have people waiting on you hand and foot. It's as if I can not do anything by myself or for myself. And until this day, I have never set foot out of Kings Landing. Everything I know about this world, I learned from books or the Maester's teachings."
The flames seemed to respond to her hand movements,"Sometimes I wish, I wasn't a princess, just to be able to see what other people do or how they live, but then I am brought back to the ground by the Maester or my father, who tells me that the world is a cruel place for people who do not have some sort of status. That I am lucky to be a princess and to have such a fine family."
"I agree with him, most of the time." She smiled at Vickon again. "And... that's about it as far as my life goes."

He watched Aelinor as she told her tale. Her purple eyes as they flickered in the firelight, he looked her body up and down and although she was well covered, he imagined the beauty that lay beneath those robes. Listening, he was in awe of how different her life had been from his own, envied the love her family seemed to have for her. He looked at his bandaged hand and smiled and as she finished all that she had to say, Vickon leaned in and kissed her.

Aelinor received the kiss with a start. She pulled back and looked at him,"Why did you do that?" She stood up and stared at him, her violet eyes wide as she pressed her fingers to her mouth. The princess was more surprised than angry.
"Did I give you the impression that I wanted or needed affection?"
