Aelinor walked slowly down to the pit, her heartbeat was quickening. She had not ever seen the dragons, her wedding day was the first time. She hesitated at the door,"This is not where I should be... I know nothing of these beasts.."
She then touched her stomach again,"I should not be afraid, would you be afraid my little one? They are the strength of our great house, why shouldn't I be able to see them?" Aelinor squared her shoulders and opened the pit door.

Trajan still sat, watching the dragons with rapt attention as he had been for hours. The opening of the door made him jump and he turned to see Aelinor enter, the indignation melting from his face.
"Cousin." he said smiling, hurrying to take her hand. Even though she was not yet showing he could feel the dragon growing within her, feel the beginnings of its tiny heart and diverted bloodflow. "I did not expect company.

Smiling with some relief that she was not alone in the pit, she took his hand,"I did not expect anyone to be here either. I... I just felt the need to come down here," Aelinor shrugged,"I don't know why, I just did."
"This is usually where Aelix and Uncle Markar comes to work with the dragons." She then stared at the beasts,"They are beautiful though.."

"And dangerous." Trajan said, nodding to each of the white cloaks. "I'd say it is no place for a queen, but it is your birthright."

Aelinor nodded,"It is said so, but I just couldn't resist the urge to come see them..." She looked at the guards,"I am fine with my cousin, it is not like you could do anything if the dragons went beserk, now could you?"
She then slowly sat beside Trajan, still looking at the dragons.

Trajan resisted a chuckle at the Kingsguards' expense, instead looking at the dragons.
"They'll be alive long after our bones are dust." he said morbidly. "It's almost a calming though in these times of chaos. The dragons endure."

"I have heard that, but why do we just have two?"She stared at the black scales of the huge male,"Do they not mate? Or is she not what he wants?"
Aelinor looked at him,"If they do not mate, then there can be no more."

"Who can say?" he said, pondering. "Perhaps it is not the right time. When you live as long as they do, decades mean less. They could mate generations from now."

She nodded,"Too bad they are nothing like us, if they were the kingdom would be overrun with dragons.." Aelinor smiled, then stared at the magnificent dragon. "Do you think they would hurt me?"

"I do not know what your mean when you refer to us. Your cousin is a chaste and godly man." he said, barely keeping a straight face. "I cannot say whether they would or not. The man that could read the mind of a dragon could make himself a god."

She nudged Trajan playfully at his comment of being chaste and godly. "Really cousin? I find that hard to believe... The men of the dragonblood are very much sought after for your strength and your handsome faces."
Aelinor then scooted down and walked from Trajan to waiting dragon. With her hand outstretched, she motions to touch the huge dragon.

"As are its women. I've heard none are more spirited." he replied, though his smile faded as she approached the beasts.
"Aelinor..." He stood to intervene but knew that might startle the beasts and merely watched, bracing himself to act.

She stared into his eye, not saying a word. One hand rested on her unborn, the other was still outstretched. Her violet eyes moved over the large beast, she was not afraid anymore, she just wanted to touch it's scales to feel if the dragon was as warm and hot as she was.
Aelinor was not afraid.

The dragon inclined its great head, snorting. Tendrils of smoke rose from its nostrils as it but its face down to peer at the Queen thoughtfully.
