"Why not? I have the power to. I have the men and the banner men. I have people like you and Lord Tarly. My Kingsguard and my wife. My sons. I did it because I had to." he sat on his throne.

"You will do this.... You will slaughter thousands of innocents, burn fields and crops, destroy lives of men, go to war.... Just because you CAN? Do you want your sons to die? Do you want US to die? The other day, you were preaching peace. What changed your heart so?"

Lord Lannister stalked in, his long blond curls slightly damp with sweat, though it only gave the handsome Lord a more rakish and dashing air. He had ridden to Highgarden from Kings Landing as soon as he heard the slightest whisper of Tyrell's treason. He swept a bow. "My Lord Tyrell. What is the meaning of this?"

"I have proclaimed myself King of the Reach." he said simply.

"Yes, and I am his hand." Gerold proclaimed with an ironic air. "If we have your support, and the dragons don't enter the war, we might have a chance."

"Do not worry about them yet. We need to worry about our new kingdom now."

"Our new kingdom will be over in the span of two days if we don't deal with this problem. Besides, The Reach already works like clockwork, and an alliance with Lord Lannister won't change that at all."

"But for what reason?" he asked for a more detailed explanation, crossing his arms over his chest and drumming his fingers against his forearm. He was more curious than anything. He looked between the two lords, chewing his lip. Lord and King, now...he thought. "What's in it for me, if I commit treason, and pledge my men and my lands to you?"
Behind him, Joanna appeared, in skirts divided for riding, surrounded by ladies and the Lannister guards. She looked at them all questioningly, not fully understanding what was happening. All she knew was that she had had a very long and hard ride from the capitol, and her arse was very sore. Not that she would let on.

"My lord Hand is unmarried and your sister is most beautiful. Also, we have need of your mind on my council. The Reach and the Westerlands will join as one." he smiled to Lord Lannister.

"Yes. Your help will be greatly appreciated in the coming storm. One thing, though." He frowned. "My Lord, are you marrying me off?"

Tybolt raised an eyebrow curiously. "My beautiful sister has drawn the eye of many men. Perhaps she is engaged to marry another great Lord of Westeros?"
Joanna looked at her brother, frowning at him. He'd sell her to the highest bidder, she knew. She glanced at the Hand...Lord Hightower. His one eye was on her. She shivered.

"Engaged to a Hand of the King and Lord of Oldtown by some chance?" he glanced at the girl. Good hips, great chest]/i]. He smiled again and chuckled.

Tybolt smirked. "You really want her for him, then? He doesn't seem so interested." He eyed Hightower carefully. Younger than Tully, not a drunkard...but he was an odd duck, to be certain. "Do you wish to offend the Lord of the Riverlands, though?" He chuckled. "Not that it would matter, with the armies of the Reach and the West joined."

Gerold's Expression hardened slightly at the sight of Joanna. Not that the girl wasn't pretty, but there was something about her that he found foreign, strange. He spoke bluntly. "Tully isn't as powerful as we are. And this alliance is more important. This marriage will bind us together more securely than a piece of paper." He sighed. "I did not wish to be married to someone I did not know, but I will do so, for the good of our kingdom."

"Thank you, my Hand. Tybalt, will you accept the council position?" he moved slightly on his throne.
