Formerly the office of the Reachman, Robert Rowan, the Office of the Master of Laws has been appropriated by the new Master of Laws Lord Edwyn Baratheon.

Lord Edwyn sat in his office, writing letters and issuing commands as per the duties of his office.
His son Renly knocked at the door and was admitted.
Edwyn looked up and smiled.
"Ahh, Renly. Sit down. Sit down. As you can see I have returned from the Reach. The traitor king is dead and the realm has been re-united."
He pushed the letter he had been writing away and leaned back in his seat.
"You have heard of the Regent's latest decree? We are ordered to present ourselves before the Iron Throne to renew our oaths. We are also required to bring one son or daughter to be fostered at Kings Landing. At twenty-three winters, you are too old to be fostered. So I have decided that your sister Margaery will be our fosterling."
He paused and leaned forward.
"Your task is to take ship for Storms End and return with Margaery. Our regent is an impatient man, so time is of the essence."
Edwyn rummaged around his desk before finding a piece of paper, which he handed to Renly. "This pass has been signed and sealed by myself as Master of Laws. It will allow you to leave Kings Landing by sea and return. Do so my son. Go now and return quickly."
Renly took the paper. "Very well Father. Farewell. I will fulfill all that you have asked of me." He rose and exited the room heading for the harbor.

He entered and rapt his knuckles on the door frame. "A moment, my lord?"

"Ah Gerik." replied Edwyn genially, pushing a sheaf of papers away from him. "What can I do for you?"

He took a seat across from Lord Edwyn. He absentmindedly stroked his beard with one hand. "That was messy business with that Jonnet. Much simpler if he had taken the black."

Edwyn nodded in agreement. "Tyrell's summary execution was not well done by the Lord Regent, but it is done. Unfortunately the boy did not know when to keep his mouth closed. His death disturbs you, Gerik?"

"No, not at all. He died a traitor's death, my lord."

Edwyn nodded. "And Highgarden is condemned to fire and blood. That is their punishment. I for one will not grieve for the end of the Tyrells, but it is of some concern as to what or who will replace them."
He leaned back in his chair.
"Now Gerik, you have news of my daughters? I can think of no other reason why you would be here and not guarding them. My daughters are valuable commodities. This city is dangerous and we have enemies here. They may well see my daughters as a way of striking against me."

"Your daughters are fine, my lord. Will I be staying in King's Landing with Bethany, Marared, and..." He thought for a moment. "...Margaery? Or will someone else be taking my duty?"

'I see no reason to replace you." replied Edwyn with a small smile. "Unless you would prefer other duties."

He smiled in return and chuckled. "No complaint here. I love watching the girls." He reddened. "I mean not watch them like watching them. But like looking over them. I am their protector, it's just that King's Landing can be a little dry."

"I have a feeling that Kings Landing will be livening up in the near future, Gerik." replied Edwyn with a small knowing smile.
"Most of the major lords are present and will be for some time. Also I believe that the Lord Regent will be throwing a number of festivities to celebrate the reunification of the realm. Feasts, tournaments and the like. Still if you wish to leave Kings Landing I will not stop you."

He considered for a moment, then stood. Not violently, but gently and calmly. "My lord, I take back what I said earlier. I enjoy guarding the girls, it's just not for me. There has to be someone else to do it."

"Very well." said Edwyn easily. "I can easily find someone else to take on this important duty. I had thought you felt some affection and friendship with my daughters. However I understand. What is it you wish to do?"
