The view from the carriage as they approached Kings Landing, she took in a deep breath. Three months, three months it had been since the true Queen had left her home. Aelinor was greatful to Lord and Lady Stark for harboring her in her time of peril, now it was time to get her son back before her kin takes his life to continue their demented rule.
Lorraine touched her shoulder, ”Aelinor, relax… We have already discussed how we will handle this.” She smiled at her friend, ”Wilhelm will show them the declaration that you wrote, giving us rule of the North and the betrothal of our children. “Wilhelm then cleared this throat, ”This royal decree of giving them a ward will not be satisfied today. I will not give any of my children to that madman or his harpy of a wife.” His eyes looked upon Aelinor as he insulted her sister, to see if she would react. “All though I do not want to be in between the affairs of Dragons, but your Highness, you have put us there.”
Aelinor nodded, ignoring his insult of her kin but deep inside she did feel the same,”I do apologize for this, but there was nowhere else I could turn. I trusted no one, but you two.” Her breathe quickened as she thought of the night she had to leave her son and head North. The Grand Maester, who had known since she was child aided her in the escape, by giving her a potion to slow her breathing so that she appeared dead. She was almost excited when he moved her body from the Sept, making sure that the no one was around when the Stark men carried her out the castle.
Her thoughts are now bent on getting Baelor, only Baelor. From the news she has heard, there seems to be no aim from anyone for peace, all that matters is her son, the true King remains alive. She placed her fingers on her lips forming a kiss, she missed Aelix. How did her life become so tragic so fast? First with her father dying in that swarm of shadows and then her beloved dying with his dragon and leaving her with the true demons of their family. “I have to see my mother first”, she looked at Wilhelm, ”she has to know that I am alive, I have to see her.”
The strong Stark shook his head, ”I believe that to be unwise. No one should know who you are until we are infront of the Iron Throne. Once you are revealed, you will be under the protection of my men.” Her eyes began to well up, ”But I also have Baratheon’s men. They can protect me as well.”
“Your Grace, my plan is better. Let the bastards believe that you are still dead. To reveal yourself anytime sooner could prove to work against us. If your son is still alive, revealing yourself too soon could surely get him killed before you even lay hands on him. Is that what you want?”
“If it is, then the declaration will be over because our daughter will not have a husband and everything will be turned on its ear and they will win.” His face stern as his grey eyes pierced her, “This situation is not just about you, Aelinor.” She sighed, ”I know. I will stay with you and Lorraine until it is time.” Aelinor laid her head on Lorraine’s shoulder, her heart heavy but she knew what needed to be done.
The rest of the way she remained silent, running over what would happen in her mind.
