Gerold frowned. "I'm a capable leader, but only behind a wall, and why would you want me at a peace talk? I've barely participated in this war."

"Because you are one of my most important banner man. Which reminds me, how is your brother doing?" he sat down. "Wine?"

Gerold waved a hand at the wine, instead pulling clean water out of a hip flask instead. "Arthur? Don't you remember? He's been a prisoner, for almost a year now. Confined by The Dornish. I don't even know if he's still alive."

Leo grimaced. "I'll find out. Trust me on that, and I'll get him back. Lord Gerold, you've been keeping Hightower men holed up in your lands. We may need them soon if war breaks out again."

Gerold folded his hands. "That is your problem, Lord Tyrell. If you prepare for war when you talk of peace, nobody will believe you. We are not The Dornish. We don't kill thousands just to settle a grudge, or to get revenge. Westeros cannot sustain another war. It will not."

"All I am saying is that war may come. I will do all in my power to prevent it, which is why I am bringing you." he locked eyes with Gerold.

"Very well. I will go to these peace talks with you, if you would have it so. We will speak to our enemies and try to make them see the error of their ways."
He took another swig of water.
"But tell me, my lord. What do you plan on doing, if the Dornish ask for land and gold for what we have done for them? What recompense do they deserve? What recompense do you deserve? Look. What I'm trying to ask you is, how much are you willing to sacrifice for peace?"

"Sacrifice? Who knows how far I will go. Sometimes I surprise myself. I have lost most of my family to the fires of the Red God. I will not lose anymore. The Dornish attacked us first, and they burned on the Mander, and in the Marches, and outside Oldtown. They will pay, Hightower, all in due time." he turned ant stared out the window.

"Pay? You would have them all die, for what they did. Then they would try and kill you, and your children would try and kill them. A circle of blood and sorrow, never ending, killing millions. That's not how peace works. Someone has to step down, take the blow and not strike back."
He turned towards Longthorn.
"I did that, when I came to terms with... a formidable enemy of mine. I sacrificed so much, but it was worth it. Peace always is."

He chuckled and turned to Nathan Oakheart. "If they're all dead, how can they strike back?"

Gerold turned, almost angry. "Castamere is not a good example of how to go about things. Killing them all would cost not only their lives, but the lives of thousands of innocents, many under your command. Is that what you want, my lord? To be responsible for yet another war?"

Nathaniel puts down his wife and covers her ears, as she proceeds to pout looking up to him he looks to Tyrell. "I will fight for you, as my wifes brother, but know me and my men do not like to throw their lives away for wars that do not need to start."

He looked strained. "I will not start a bloody war. That is the last thing I want, but I do want retribution. Also, Mari. Why are you here? This is a private council. Please, leave."

Gerold nodded to Mari as she left the room. "What is retribution, exactly, to you? Dornish Land? Dornish Gold? A skilled assassin to kill Dornish lords? When does it end? When will your heart be satisfied?"

Without Mari in the room, Leo let his emotions flew. "This fucking war has absorbed my entire life. Taken my family, if I want Dornish blood. I will get Dornish blood. But Gerold, you know how to be conservative. I need that. I will listen to you. Just us, everyone leave." He motioned toward the door. "Except you, Oakheart."
