"You will be given nothing, Hightower," said Ulrick. "You are a prisoner of Dorne, and that is how you shall remain until the day of your death."

He smiled. "Wait until Lord Leoblad comes and he will come. He will cast you down and burn Sunspear. Your Red God can go fuck himself, the Seven will save me."

Ulrick frowned. "There are no seven. There is only one: R'hllor. You are fooling yourself if you believe anyone else can save you from your fate. If R'hllor demands that you burn here, then you shall burn."

"You Dornish fucks started this fucking war. All this blood is on your hands. Fuck you, Ulrick. Fuck you, Martell." he stared at them.

"I don't see how you could ever blame me," Ulrick replied, "I wasn't even born until after the war had begun."

"I blame all the Dornish and their Red Priests. Once I am free, and I will be soon. I will kill you all." He drew his hand along a particularly sharp stone, drawing a gush of blood. "This is a promise. By my blood, I will avenge all of my brothers-in-arms that have fallen against your fires."

"That is a promise you cannot keep," Ulrick added. "You will die here, and soon by the look of you. If you even tried to escape, I would cut you down without hesitation."

"I will be a martyr then, the Reach loves me." he smiled again. "Over one hundred thousand swords will march against you. The dragons will be released, or have they already? Cut me down now, what will happen? Don't make me mad, Sand."

Sand feels a chill run down his spine despite the intense heat of the Dornish sun. He feels threatened, but not by Arthur, sunburnt and shrivelled as he is. The idea of the Reach and the Dragons crashing down on Sunspear, though, frightens him.

Ulrick struggles to keep his composure after hearing Hightower's words. "No need to be rash, ser," he explained, "I do not wish to see the dragons."

"Can Sunspear stand against one hundred-fifty thousand swords? No, You have maybe half our number. I wasn't just at Oldtown, I fought in the Mountains too. We also have the North, Westerlands, and Riverlands behind us." Arthur barked.

"I do not wish to see a battle hit the streets of Sunspear," said Ulrick, "but you are a fool if you believe that I would simply hand you your freedom. Think this through, perhaps we can come to some arrangement which could benefit us both."

Arthur's brains have been cooked by the sun and he can barely think, but Ulrick Sand's words seem to make him more lucid. He thinks it would be a good idea to hear the Dornishman out.

"Well," Ulrick explained, "there is a lot to be gained if we were to sent you back to Oldtown. I'm sure your brother the Coldeye would be willing to pay some kind of ransom for your life, but what would it be? Tell me, what can you promise us in return of your release, with full escort back to Oldtown?"
