The doors of the Great Hall burst open as Gerold strode in. So. Jonnet is dead. Blackfyre has done what I could not. And now he all but forces us to swear fealty to him, and to give him hostages. And right after a war. This one is good.
"Lord Regent. I apologize for the late arrival. I had some trouble on the road. It seems you are already in session." Gerold nodded at Lannister, and winked at Baratheon, before kneeling towards the throne.

Trajan nodded to his gold cloak commander as Lord Todric departed. They had orders to keep an escort on the Riverland lord at all times.
"You just missed you most recent Prince, Lord Gerold." he said, his attention on the Hightower now. "But we are pleased you could join us. Have you brought a fosterling?"

Gerold shrugged. "My wife is with child, but my son or daughter will not be born for some time. I have heard your other terms, and I am perfectly fine with staying in the city every other year."

"We are pleased to hear that." Trajan replied, violet eyes sizing up the Hightower. "Do you have anything to say in defense of the gold and trouble your feigned treason cost this court?"

Podrick opened the doors of the Great Hall, the most stylish way he could. "Lord Regent...." He said, and strode to the center of the room.

"We are pleased to hear that." Trajan replied, violet eyes sizing up the Hightower. "Do you have anything to say in defense of the gold and trouble your feigned treason cost this court?" Gerold chuckled lightly. "Must I justify saving the realm from possible years of war, and thousands of lives?" He shrugged. "Very well, driving a knife into someone's back is a simple thing, but doing it and making sure his friends don't take revenge.... that is a difficult task, and one that requires both patience and timing. As a matter of fact, I had planned the assassination for several weeks later, at Oldtown, but the battle forced my hand slightly. Nevertheless, I put everything into position so that our realms could stay at peace after Tyrell died. That was the reason of my waiting, and I apologize if I have cost the crown gold in doing so."

Trajan considered the Hightower's assertion, holding up a hand for Lord Baelish to wait.
"Nonetheless, you will face the same penalty as Lord Lannister for not informing the crown of Tyrell's planned treason at its first whisper; fifteen percent of your house income for the next five years to be used for the rennovation of Flea Bottom." he said sternly, before his tone curiously changed. "However, your dedication to peace and the actions you took to ensure it are commendable. If you believe you can hold the Reach together, we weill give you the chance to do so. You are hereby named Lord Regent of the Reach, the accompanying titles and privledges to be held by House Hightower."

Pod nodded at the Lord Regent, he only now noticed the other Lords standing on the Hall. He looked for Damon, but there was no sign of him, he started grinning.

Gerold bowed and stepped back amongst the others. Fifteen Percent Is Not Too Much. And Becoming Lord Paramount of The Reach is not unexpected, but welcome, nonetheless.

"There is one more thing, Lord Hightower." he said suddenly, feigning as if he had forgotten. He pulled a small metal object from his pocket and tossed it skittering accross the floor to rest at Gerold's feet. It was a silver badge in the shape of a hand. "You'll be needing that if we're to ensure peace for this realm."

Gerold was taken aback. "My lord.... this is quite the unexpected honor.... Surely there are others more suitable to the task...."

"None that chose the good of the realm over the good of their region. None as devoted to the ideal of peace throught these kingdoms." he said with conviction. "Do you reject the honor we have seen fit to bestow upon you?"

Gerold leaned down, picking up the metal hand. "Of course not, Lord Regent. If you see it fit for me to have this position, than accept it I will. Thank you." He bowed one more time before stepping back.

Edwyn's face darkened at Trajan's words. He stepped forward.
"None that chose the good of the realm over their region! It was the Stormlands that stood side by side with the Crown in the field against these traitors! If the Hightower was truly desirous of peace, then why did he not inform the Iron Throne of the Tyrell treachery at its beginning. Indeed he was the Hand of the upstart Tyrell for over a year! Now, not only is effectively Lord Paramount of the Reach, he is rewarded with the office of Hand for the Iron Throne."
